Mitsubishi has made inroads into the country with various models being launched in India along the lines of Pajero Sport Select Plus (currently being sold), Montero and Outlander.
After the recent introduction of GST, Mitsubishi made some price cuts to its product line, where the Pajero Sport received a price cut of 1,04,000/- to make it appealing and a move to make it more competitive against the likes of the Fortuner and Endevour.
Now Mitsubishi is planning to bring its Pajero Sport 2018 into India early next year.
Build and Exterior
The 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, like earlier, is built on a strong ladder-frame chassis and is based on the Triton light pick-up truck. Overall, the look and the size of this SUV has been completely overauled, with Lots of chrome which is thrown in, similar to what we find on the Out lander. The Grill is also finished with a lot of chrome and stands out in a crowd from afar. We can see dual LED headlights and also DRLs surrounding this.
The bumper has also been completely redone with a lot of angles and geometrical style. The fog lamps remain more-o-less the same, being cut out in and installed in a black frame.
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2018 has been bumped on the overall length by 90mm, making it a bigger and more spacious (interiors) and giving it a bolder look and feel.
The rear has now a very different look from the current Pajero Sport , the lights being a given a shape which is very uncoventional. It does remind us of what Honda has done with its Jazz model. The Bumper is slightly more tucked up, giving it a rather odd look which will take time to get used to. Though, this will be a definite plus for off roaders and adventure enthusiasts.
Interiors and Convenience
The Interiors of the Pajero 2018 remain more-o-less the the same except for some minor but important changes. The Currently Entertainment system gives way to a more Up-Market Touchscreen Infotainment system with all the conenctivity options that one can think of, while the heavy use of chrome reminds us on the Outlander to give it a more premium look and feel.
The rest remains the same with Leather seat covers, and the other gizmos.
The current Pajero sport is already a good competition for the likes of Ford and Toyota with the price at 28 lacs (approx. ex-showroom Delhi). Now it depends on Mitsubishi to the timing and the pricing of the launch which will decide its stand against the rivals.
